Happy New Year, and thank you all for your continued understanding and support of the Genron NPO’s activities.

The new year has just begun. My goal for this year is to significantly heighten the influence of the Genron NPO, as I am convinced it is imperative for our organization to become much stronger in order to drive Japan forward into the future.

Hello. I am Yasushi Kudo, representative of Genron NPO from Japan.

Today, I would like to talk about an issue of the East China Sea, rather than the South China Sea. This issue is also a crucial matter in Asia, so I'll briefly express my thoughts on how we can achieve a peaceful solution to the Senkaku Islands dispute (Diaoyu in Chinese), which is becoming a source of grave conflict between Japan and China.

The following is Genron NPO Representative Yasuhi Kudo’s speech text prepared for the Council on Foreign Relations' (CFR) panel discussion on "Views from Abroad: International Perspectives (from Japan, France and Russia) on the United States," held in Washington D.C. on March 14. Kudo served as one of the three panelists before the audience of some 40 influential U.S. government bureaucts and journalists.
